Unanswered: Using operators in an IIF statement

I am trying to set my criteria for USOC.USOC_DESC using: IIf([Forms]![Set Criteria]![freDedicatedMux]=1,('<>"MULTIPLEXING"'),[tblUSOC]![USOC_DESC]); however, this does not work. Although, if I use: IIf([Forms]![Set Criteria]![freDedicatedMux]=1,"MULTIPLEXING",[tblUSOC]![USOC_DESC]) it does work, yet is not what I want being that I want only records that are NOT MULTIPLEXING.

If this is impossible for MS Access to handle, does anyone know of anything that would trick it into doing what I need?

    Thanks!

I am thinking the IIF statement returns a value based on the equation, not that it does any filtering.

Does your field [freDedicatedMux] have a value for NOT MULTIPLEXING?

If so, replace the 1 with that value and you should get the right result.

Thanks to all that posted responses! I have determined that Access will not let you pass operators to a parameter. Therefore, I have passed the values to a nested query and it runs just fine. If you are interested in specifics let me know.
