Unanswered: how much load before my site crashes??

    Hello!

How many users will it take to make my access database fall over on the web? Is this a simple question? What database should i look at using next time?

I use access because some of my clients like low cost websites but i hear it doesn't take too much load.

    regards

i've heard anecdotal evidence that it's ten simultaneous users

let's say your web site gets 10,000 visitors a day
    (i wish)

    that's 417/hour, or 7/min, or 1 user every 9 seconds

if the database call is less than 9 seconds (quite reasonable, as most access calls are a second or less) then you'll be fine

now, even if you had a hundred site visitors at a time, they aren't all going to hit the enter key at the same time -- they'll be reading a page, then navigating, then reading some more...

so you could have umpteen simultaneous site visitors and still not get ten simultaneous access users

    helps?
