Lightbulb Unanswered: Automatic, multiple data entry ????

    Hello

I have a large table, that is missing data from a column.

I need to put a link to an image in each row, but it depends on a value
    in the first column.

    Ie.

If the first colum has value 0001, the link would be pictures\0001A.gif
If the first colum has value 1024, the link would be pictures\1024A.gif

Is there a way to do this without going through each row by hand and adding it?

    Thanks

You can do this with an update query.

    Something like

    Column1 ColumnToAdd
    001 [Column1]&"A.gif"
    002
    003

    Then run as an update

    Cheers,

I don't suppose you know how to make the values into a link?
So I can click on them and they load the picture?

I prefer to store the path instead of storing the picture as an OLE it is simple and does not bloat the database.

To simulate clicking you would add an extra form and when you click on the picture path or what have you the other form would open.

Add an image to the other form, you will prompted for a picture path, choose any picture you like for now. Set it to stretch now delete the picture path and ensure the properties are set to linked.

In code you would write something like:

    Me.imgMyImage.Picture=CurDir & "/" & Me.PicturePath

This assumes the picture is in the same file as the database and that picture path is defualted to the value of the other form. You could use Open Args or any other property to pick up the picture path.
