Unanswered: The log file for database "tempdb" is full. Back up the transaction log for the datab
Hi, anyone experience this problem before, and know an answer?
I'm using SQL 2000 SP1 on Windows 2000 SP2. Last week I got an error message like:
"Error 07/16/02 10:58 MSSQLServer Error 9002: Severity 17 State:2
The log file for database "tempdb" is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space".
This could probably be caused by a number of sql statements that make changes to the application database. A backup log tempdb with truncate_only was executed.
Since that time I'm experiencing problems with the tempdb database in the sence that when requesting the properties of the tempdb database Enterprise Manager seem to hang. Also activities that request information from the tempdb database generate errors like when you check management - current activity an eror will appear: "error 1222: lock request timeout period exceeded".
Every night the SQL server process is stopped for a backup so after restart a new tempdb database is created. The server has also had a cold reboot since the problem occured. What to do to overcome this problem?
