Running W2K, we recently had a torn page and that forced us to restore from backup. This happened right after we did a clean shutdown.
Since the damage has been already done, I would like to prevent this in the future.
We are using a hardware raid controller with a battery backup. We also have the torn page detection set to on in the db options. Should this be turned off because we are using a battery backup for the RAID? Or does this make no difference?
I also read in the forums that the RAID card should not be set to write-back for cache. Is this true? We are using IBM servers and the CD install pack changed all the defaults to optimize the RAID card for a database server.
