    Unanswered: SQl statement, simple syntax quest

    Hey,
    This is a simple question, so forgive me, what is the syntax to convert a character datatype to numeric in Access 2000? here is the sql:

    SELECT [icbc Date/Period].Day,Count([icbc Date/Period].PassTime), [icbc Date/Period].Period
    FROM [icbc Date/Period]
    Group By [icbc Date/Period].Day, [icbc Date/Period].Period;

    I get "Datatype mismatch error message on this statement", I think I eed to place a converting method on the [icbc Date/Period].PassTime.

    I in a huge rush for htis, please help,
    S

    You're missing an alias...

    SELECT [icbc Date/Period].Day,Count([icbc Date/Period].PassTime) As CountOfPassTime, [icbc Date/Period].Period
    FROM [icbc Date/Period]
    Group By [icbc Date/Period].Day, [icbc Date/Period].Period;

    Regards,

    Dan
