    Arrow Unanswered: ??? update a linked database

    hi

    im using a linked database. i need to add a new table in the original database. once i do this, how do i update the linked one? do i have to add the same table in the linked db or does access make it automatically? thanx in advance

    Access should do it automatically.

    but it didnt work with my db


    the original db contains only data tables (data file), the linked one has all the queries, forms, reports, same tables. so had i updated the first file's tables should i update the second one's tables too??? i hope i'm clear with my prob

    See, in 1st file, you are using linked tables. It means, when you are updating the tables using client MDB file, your data is being saved in file server (where you kept all tables) MDB file.

    However, if you can't see new table in your client MDB file, then you need to establish link with the new table in your server file. In your client MDB, there should be a little arrow on left of your linked tables' names.
