    Unanswered: Logical operators in BETWEEN clause

    Is this kosher?

    SELECT item_name FROM menu_item WHERE item_name BETWEEN 'A|a' AND 'M|m';

    Or Will MySQL do a case insensitive query?

    I know MySQL doesn't concern itself with case sensitivity with column names, but what about in the WHERE & BETWEEN clause?

    I ask because I get the same ( correct ) results whether I run the query
    with uppercase or lower case and also when using the logical operators.

    You are correct. The searches are case-insensitive. However, you can use functions to help you determine the case which may help you.
