    Unanswered: access db2 on one aix from another aix

    Hi,

    I have my code in DB.java which attempts to access a DB2 database on an AIX (say myAix). To establish the connection from another machine,
    I have:

    Class.forName("COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.net.DB2Driver").ne wInstance();
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:db2://162.44.9.80:6500/dbname","uname","pwd");

    When i run the program from an NT box, I am able to successfully insert a row into a table in myAix.

    But when I run the program from another AIX, I get this error:

    COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2Exception: [IBM][JDBC Driver] CLI0615E Error receiving from socket, server is not responding. SQLSTATE=08S01

    Can someone please help!!

    I have run the db2jstrt 6500 command. What else can i try doing...?

    Thank you so much for any help/pointers .

    Re: access db2 on one aix from another aix

    Looks like a network connectivity problem between the two AIX servers.

    Are you able to ping ?

    Try doing netstat, both on server and client, between the time of connection request and the error message and check the status of the connection between the boxes.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

    Sangeetha,

    1. Check whether server is up or not.

    2. Check the network connections (ping)

    3. Try configuaring the clint to server

    If all the above are successfull, I don't see any reason why the connection is failing...

    Check firewall and port settings also.
