Question Unanswered: Oracle 8.1.7 install on redhat linux 7.2

I am quite new to linux and I have oracle installation problem on redhat linux 7.2.

During the linking process when it is 9% completed an error occurs. And I have the following entry in make.log file....
    /usr/bin/make -f ntcontab.o ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/8.
    (if [ "compile" = "compile" ] ; then \
    /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/bin/gennttab > ntcontab.c ;\
    cc -c ntcontab.c ;\
    rm -f /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/lib/ntcontab.o ;\
    mv ntcontab.o /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/lib ;\
    /usr/bin/ar rv /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/lib/libn8.a /opt/oracle/produ
    ct/8.1.7/lib/ntcontab.o ; fi)
    /bin/sh: cc: command not found
mv: cannot stat `ntcontab.o': No such file or directory
/usr/bin/ar: /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/lib/ntcontab.o: No such file or directory
    make: *** [ntcontab.o] Error 1

I assume it is looking for cc and if any one could suggest how to install cc, it will be very helpful. i.e, is there any rpm that I should install inorder this to work.

    Thanks in Advance...

One of requirements to install Oracle on RedHat is to have C compiler. You have to setup the path to it in your PATH too.

There is a GNU gcc rpm which if you installed RH with development support shoudl be there already. It installs in /usr/bin/gcc and sym link to cc is made. SO install gcc.rpm, set cc in your PATH and try again.

The installation guide explains that too. Complete instructions fi you need are posted Here or just do search on Red Hat on this URL.

    Hope that helps,
