    Unanswered: Ora-00904 Exp-0008 Invalid Column

We just upgraded our server from Windows NT / Oracle 8.15
to Windows 2000 / Oracle 8.17 + Patch. After loading the
database I attempt to Export our newly configured database and receive
the following error : EXP-00008 Oracle error 904 encountered
    ORA-00904 invalid column name
    EXP-00000 Export terminated unsuccessfully

    Any ideas ?

    Cool

You are using the old version of th exp executable.

Did you set oracle_sid=new_sid and also used the full path to the exp for 8.1.7? Probably not. Do that and post if you still need help.

    c:>set oracle_sid=new_sid

    then use:

    c:>exp parfile=

    or

    c>:\oracle8.1.7_path\bin\exp parfile=

If that doesn't solve your problem, try to run the catexp.sql in @?\rdbms\admin again.

    Hope that helps,

I just set the Oracle_Sid = New_Sid and navigated to full
path of EXP.exe and still encounter the same problem.
The machine was wiped clean before OS/Oracle re-install.
No prior EXP.exe should exist. Any other suggestions ?

I also ran Catexp.sql as suggested. This encountered many
errors. " Insufficient privleges" "Table or View does not exist".
I ran with a super user created with Sysdba provleges.
Somehow my "internal" user is gone .. How to re-create ?

    Cool

INTERNAL is actually SYS acount. Can you connect in svrmgrl as SYS?

Try running catproc.sql, catalog.sql again, but your better choice would be to re-create the DB from scratch. Something wrong happened.

    Hope that helps,

Thank You Clio .. It worked .. everything appears normal
and Dbase running strong. Do you still think it a good
idea to create new from scratch ??
