Question Unanswered: Simple (?) Data Transformation Script/Problem

I need to import an Excel file with a "Name" field which contains (First Name + Last Name) into the Access DB with two seperate fields:

    First Name

    Last Name

Need to split the name into it's respective parts...

Seems to me there must be a simple macro or script that could be run to accomplish this...??

    I have 15,000 records...would appreciate any suggestions/info...

    Thanks...

    Here is a solution

Open up your excel spread sheet

Say you have the names in column "A"
and the names start in cell "A2"

Type the following code in Cell "B2"

    =LEFT(A2,FIND(" ",A2,1))

This will give you the first name in column "B"

Now in Column C (Cell C2) Type the following code

    =RIGHT(A2,LEN(A2)-FIND(" ",A2))

This will give you the last name in column C

You have now seperated First and Last names into 2 columns

Simply Copy the formula to the remaining cells
Please let me know how it goes.
I just tested it and it works... Good luck
