    Unanswered: Login failed for user 'sa'.

    For better or worse my knowledge of SQL Server 7 has large holes.

    I believe that I have been hacked.

    when I try to log on via the internet I get:

    +++++++++
    Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e4d'

    [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'sa'.

    /national/teasers/teaserFunction.asp, line 17
    ++++++++++

    Is it possible that my sa password got changed?

    In my ASP code I have the following:

    DSN_Name = "DRIVER=SQL Server;dsn=database;UID=sa;PWD=;"

    DOes this mean that my password for user sa should be ;?

    Help -- I'm ignorant and down

    It just means that the asp page has been coded to reflect that no password exists for you sa account. Does your sa account have a password ? If so, has this page worked before ? You may have been hacked - if you want to persue this offline, email me and I will help as much as possible. There are several techniques that would allow someone to take you down/change your sa password.

    Your sa had no password - or was it set to nothing ? Do you have queries executed on your web site ? The hacker could still be exploiting your system - normally a hacker does not stop at sa.
