    Unanswered: How to start Sql service

    Dear professional

    I used to connect in mysql but it gave me the socket error,

    Can any one tell me that how can I start my sql service, I have start service in windows environment but I failed to start service in Linux environment.

    Try this... (but i think you should be a root when you do this)

    Go to: /usr/local/mysql
    Then run the command: ./bin/safe_mysqld --user=mysql &

    Thumbs up Service Start but Can't login in Mysql

    I have used the following command so please read this.

    [mysql@LinuxServ mysql]$ cd /usr/local/mysql

    [mysql@LinuxServ mysql]$ ./bin/safe_mysqld --user=mysql &

    [mysql@LinuxServ mysql]$ cd bin

    [mysql@LinuxServ bin]$ ./mysql -h localhost -u root -pmysql

    ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111)

    Can u tell me how i remove this error.

    I have encountered the same problem before, but i don't remeber what i did. sorry.

    Try shutting down mysql and run it again. If you have the same problem again, maybe this can help:

    Question Error in Shutting down

    I used the following command for shutting down the mysql
    [mysql@LinuxServ bin]$ ./mysqladmin shutdown

    I have received the following error.

    ./mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
    error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111)'
    Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists!
