Question Unanswered: mismatch bet. os,sybase bit

    Hi,

    I installed sybase 12.5 in AIX 4.3.3 (64-bit).
After sybase installation , I found that sybase version with 32-bit.

Is any performace difference If I install 32-bit sybase on 64-bit AIX 4.3.3 Unix?

Is it required to install 64-bit Sybase again??

Please let me know if anybody nows

(by mistake we received 32-bit sybase software instead of 64-bit sybase)

    Hiya Siva,

It is unfortunate that the labelling on the software box, does not carry print in bold for 32 bit 64 bit versions.

Something I'd raise with Sybase support!!!

Anyway to answer your query on 32-bit 64-bit, check this excellent FAQ paper.

    Hello Siva,

With my Experience 32 / 64 -bit does not make much difference unless you planned increase your Physical memory to very high. 64-bit will have memory space. for instance your server has 1 GB physical memory running on 32-bit then with the same physical memory if you install 64-bit. you may not see much improvement in your Application performance.

    Cheers
