An Excel "db"? If you mean an Excel spreadsheet you can save the spreadsheet as a CSV file and then, assuming it has the same format as the table you wish to import it into (columns mapping to fields), import it with LOAD DATA.

You can export data from Excel in CSV format and if you are not comfortable with COMMAND LINE then you can use graphical clients like SQLyog at http://www.webyog.com/sqlyog/download.html

It allows you import quickly data from various sources.
