    Hello.

Runing mutiple versions of oracle on the same pc. 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 and recently installed 9i Client. Prior to the to 9i client upgrade (so I could connect to a different 9i Server) there hasn't been any problems.

I am tring to export a db from the 8.1.6 instance.
1st of all I can not login as internal any more (invalid login error) ?
2nd using svrmgrl i give sysdba privleges to the user (example user1) now I go to command line to exp the db - login user1 and password it all appears to be going smoothly until I the part where it is to be exporting the tables and data - I get

    EXP-000556: ORACLE error 942 encountered
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully

Note: I get the same error if I login as system (with sysdba privleges) and try exporting just user1

What happened when I installed the 9i client? what's missing?

Note: it seems giving sysdba privleges to a user doesn't seem to matter. Shouldn't that give me full access to do everything?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    1. using the 8.1.7 sql plus - I was able to login as internal
    2. run the catexp.sql script
    3. exported using the 8.1.7 exp.exe
    4. imported dmp with 9i imp.exe
