Unanswered: Creating Taiwanese db on Win2k machine

    Hi,
How should we go ahead for creating a Taiwanese database on a Win2k machine with english font setting??
When we use UTF8 collation, do we also need to change the region..

Let me as soon as possible,

Here is an example to create a Taiwanese database with big5 codepage for storing Traditional Chinese on Windows 2000 :

db2 "create db BIG5DB using codeset big5 territory TW".

Another approach is to create the database with UTF-8 codeset

db2 "create db UTFDB using codeset UTF-8 territory TW".

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I had tried this and it is fine.
Basically my concern is that i am not able to view and save the taiwanese data from frontend(application).
I had set the enviornment variable LANG=zh_TW for the solution, but still it didn't work.
Finally when i changed the Windows system locale to Chinese(Taiwan), it worked fine.

    Thanks,
    Prashant

Yes, you need to set the Windows 2000 system locale to Chinese(Taiwan) for viewing Traditional Chinese. It will also provide some input methods for you to input Chinese characters.

    Regards,
