    Unanswered: Sybase 12.0 throughput

For a database backup what is the throughput Sybase gives ? I mean how many GB's can be backed up ?

Currently about 150 GB is getting backed up in an hour, but seems that Sybase tells it can go upto 500 GB per hour. Is that true ? If so, what tuning can we do to achieve it ? We use AIX 4.3.3.

I understand Sybase has a "Performance Tuning Guide" which I am currently going through, but if some one can throw some light it would be great.

    Thanks,
    Aravind

I would benchmark throughput at os level first . ie may be measure the time to copy the dump file from one loaction to other to mimic
same system /network condition as the sybase server has.

To improve the dumps, you can
    - configure the memory used by Backup Server
    - use several tapes
    - use remote backup server(s)
