    Unanswered: How to build Standby database ?

    Want to know how to build a standby database for a UDB v7.2 .

    1. the standby database physically locate at an other server.
    2. apply the log file to keep two database sync.

    only get piece of information regarding, but don't know how to use:

    db2inidb database_alias as standby.

    Can anybody list detail steps.

    AFAIK, db2inidb is supported only on storage systems which support Split mirrors ... For eg EMC Timefinder

    Otherwise , you can follow the below steps:

    1) Online backup of databases on source
    2) ftp the backup images to target
    3) Restore the databases on target
    4) Copy the archived logs of the databases from source to target

    5) Rollforward the databases without completing
    6) Repeat steps 4 and 5

    7) Whenever the database is required, do ROLLFORWARD and COMPLETE
