    Arrow Unanswered: replicated/split DB

I have just inherited a replicated, non-split, DB residing on a central
server with all the users only using shortcuts from their desktops directly
to the replicate. I am concerned about it's stability but I am terrified of
trying to synch the whole thing, split it, replicate it and then have
something not work. What would be your suggestion(s) as to how to approach the problem?
    Thanks-

    Re: replicated/split DB

Are all your users on the one local area network. If so how many are there that use the DB. Is there a necessity to replicate the db.

It would be a better idea to replicate split and give everyone a "front end" connected to e server back end.

But if replication is a necessity the I would recommend that a full backup of the databases be done.

Then Take a copy of the master db. Split it and test it.
Then take a copy of a replicated db split and test.

If it works, then synch with the master, split the master then create new replicas.

    Good Luck
