I don't know of any "freeware" that willl give you access to Progress databases.

We have had good luck with the Openlink software company.

You can download an evaluation copy of their software and use it for 30 days to be sure it works.

After that, the price depends on the size and complexity of your company.

I was able to install the server and client software and I have limited LAN experience.

    Good Luck,

If you have a PROGRESS Database you should also be able to get a WIN32 version of Progress software which comes with a PROGRESS database editor and such. You could install the software for these purposes.

    Re: Progress ODBC

    Hi,

I can recommend the OpenLink ODBC Drivers that have full 30-day evaluation and give free technical support for any initial connection/configuration problems. If you go with the OpenLink Multi-tier ODBC driver then you don't require the Progress Client Networking software although you do need to install couple of small components on your Progress database server machine (Linux).

Here are all the URLs that you require:

    Multi-tier description:

    http://www.openlinksw.co.uk/info/mtproduct.htm

    Download URL:

    http://www.openlinksw.co.uk/main/softdld.htm

The documentation for the installation and configuration can be accessed from the following URL:

    http://www.openlinksw.co.uk/info/docs/onldocs.htm

    Progress Specific Notes:

    http://www.openlinksw.co.uk/support/tipsdb.htm

If you have any technical problems please take advantage of our free online support service for initial connection/configuration problems and log a support case. This can be accessed from the following URL:

    http://oplweb2.openlinksw.com/produc...?hname=techreq

    I hope this helps,

    Best Regards
