    Question Unanswered: Postgres GUI

    Hello All,

This is my first post to the forum. I would like to know about the freely available GUI for PostgreSQL. I heard about pgexplorer but it's not free.

Can someone help me in this regard??

    thanks and regards,

I don't know about a GUI but phpPgadmin works pretty good. You would need a webserver running as well to access the db.

    Try this:

    http://www.flex.ro/pgaccess/

    or this:

    http://www.globecom.se/tora/

Tora is made for oracle, but works also for PostgreSQL (I'me using it)

You can try to use EMS PostgreSQL Manager. It's not free, but very powerful and easy-to-use tool. Best choice for beginners. You can download the trial version form

    pgadmin

the best GUI tool to use is pgadmin or phgppgadmin

the new version of pgadmin will be soon released and it is entirely rewritten in C++ with wxwindows
now it runs on unix and windows

if you want a web interface use phppgadmin
version 3.0 was released a few days ago

I suggest you can use navicat. http://pgsql.navicat.com

It's an excellent, fast product. I do find the 'modes' confusing. By which I mean the way the toolbar buttons change the view below as if they were tabs, but they're not. I was stumbling on this for quite awhile when I first tried the product before it dawned on me how it was working. I would also like to be able to select columns to add an index to in the Table Designer, either in the Indexes tab itself or by right clicking a column and having an "Add index" option. It would also be nice if the designer could display which columns are indexed and which are foreign keys similarly to how it indicates the primary key.
Also, it would be helpful if the Query Designer made it easier to tell which is the left and which is the right table in a LEFT OUTER or RIGHT OUTER join (in addition to supporting FULL OUTER JOIN)
