    Post Unanswered: Help, Error about Oracle 9 installation !

    I want to install Oracle9 on Sun ultra 5 workstation, but some errors occurred.

    OS versionolaris 8.0
    Memory: 256m

    After Copying all files, the Database Configuration Assistant was running, but the procedure stop at the point "Creating and starting
    Oracle instance",some message popuped as below:

    ORA-27302: failure occurred at: skgpwreset1
    ORA-27303: additional information: invalid shared ctx
    ORA-27146: post/wait initialization failed
    ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:semget failed with status: 28
    ORA-27302: failure occurred at: sskgpcreates
    ORA-27301: OS failure message: No space left on device

    How can I solve the problem?

    at what values have you set the shared momories and semaphores?

    shmmax =
    shmmni =

    look at the pre-installation requirements for Solaris

    you need to add these parameters in /etc/system file

    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=900
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=900
    set semsys:seminfo_semmns=32767
    set semsys:seminfo_semmni=900
    set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=1200
    set semsys:seminfo_semopm=900
    set semsys:seminfo_semvmx=32767

    see the installation guide for the value related to your setup. don't forget to reboot the box..

    To check the settings after the reboot run: $ sysdef
