    Red face Unanswered: db2sampl issue_HElp

    Ok... can anyone tell me why the db2sampl command is not recognize in the CLP?? I get the error:

    db2 => db2sampl d:\sqllib -k
    DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a
    valid Command Line Processor command. During SQL processing it returned:
    SQL1024N A database connection does not exist. SQLSTATE=08003

    I think is because db2sampl is an exe file not a command CLP module.
    if you do a db2=> ?
    you will see the available commands

    Thank you for your advise, as you are able to see I am not a DB2 expert and I only a limited knowledge of it. I tried your suggestion; a db2sampl.exe file is now located in the sqllib\bin folder, and I beleive this is the correct path for it.
    I run db2sampl d:\db2 -k and I get the following error message:

    D:\SQLLIB\bin>db2sampl d:\db2 -k
    SQL0965W There is no message text corresponding to SQL warning "9248" in the me ssage file on this workstation. The warning was returned from module "SQL05000" with original tokens "".

    Even if I try only

    D:\SQLLIB\bin>db2sampl

    I get

    SQL0965W There is no message text corresponding to SQL warning "9248" in the me
    ssage file on this workstation. The warning was returned from module "SQL05000"
    with original tokens "".

    Flow ,

    no problem, I ran the command to create the sample database on my
    machine and it works, please verify that your system path
    PATH= contains the sqllib/bin directory on it,
    and your system log in on your box has admin rights to create
    database objects.
    last but not least, reinstall the udb code on your machine, see if that
    resets some enviroment variables .

    my two cents

    Marcos Oliva,

    I will make sure of these settings, and follow your advise by reinstalling the database on the server; we are using it in a TWOPHASE COMMIT set up. I appreciate very much your help and advises, it directs me in the right direction: Thank you!

    I'll post a reply here asap after the checkup. BTW the user used to create and work on this NT server is db2admin, created during the installation of DB2 in the local admin group it has admin rights, at least i don't have to worry about that... ;-).

    Cheers

    There's something I don't understand in this... I removed DB2 from the serveur (complete uninstall) and reinstall the product. Once reinstall I searched for db2sampl.exe on the server: I am unable to find, this executable file is not on the server. Are you aware if this is a separate file that I need to copy on the server on I need to get somewhere?? Shoudn't it be on the server??

    hello flow

    not that I am aware of, the db2sampl should also be copied onto your
    sqllib/bin directory
