    Unanswered: Any solution for connecting DB2 from WinXP or Win2K?

    I try to connect to the DB2 from the control center, but the system refuse me to connect for no authorization.

    Is there any solution available for doing some administration work on WinXP or Win2K. I really hates to install the Win98 on my computer.

    Thanks in advance.

    I run Win2k client with the command centre etc ... and connect with no trouble to DB2 running on a Solaris box.

    I assume that the user you are using to connect from the client (I don't use my client login user account) exists in the users of the database ?

    Sorry..I should make my situation more clear. I've installed the DB2 version 7.2 on AIX4.3.3 . I installed a DB2 version 5 client on my workstationWinXP, and everytime I try to connect to DB2 on AIX, I am rejected for not authorized. The same thing happened when I install the same client on the Win2K plateform. The problem solves when we use a Win98 or WinMe plateform workstation to connect to the Server.

    Is there anything special for communication between those Win2K/Xp and AIX?

    PS: I try to log on the LAN using DB2admin, but on my WinXP, still failed.

    Perhaps, connect to <db name> user <user> using <passw>
    will help in Command Center or in command line processor will help.

    From the "FixpackReadme.txt":
    <fixpack>
    2.7 Special Notes

    2.7.1 Loss of Control Center Functionality

    There should be no problems introduced against downlevel Control Center
    clients by applying FixPak 2 or FixPak 3 to a DB2 server. However, in DB2
    Version 7.2, downlevel Control Center clients will lose nearly all
    functionality. Downlevel in this case refers to any Version 6 client prior
    to FixPak 6, and any Version 7 client prior to FixPak 2. Version 5 clients
    are not affected.

    The suggested fix is to upgrade any affected clients. Version 6 clients
    must be upgraded to FixPak 6 or later, and Version 7 clients must be
    upgraded to FixPak 2 or later.
    </fixpack>

    Although IBM says that V 5 clients are not affected, I would try with another version. Who knows...

    Thanks!

    Thanks for posting the Readme file for me.

    I'm downloading a DB 7.2 client .. Maybe that would solve the problem
