    Unhappy Unanswered: Can't connect from DB2 V7.2 to DB2 7.1 on Mainframe

I'm trying to connect from my Solaris 8 with DB2 (Connect) V7.2 to a mainframe with DB2 OS/390 7.1.1 running.
Before user and password is checked I get the message
SQL5048N The release level of the database client is not supported by the
release level of the database server.

In the Messages Reference I found that the release level of the server mustn't be more than 1 level lower the one on the client. I think I'm within the allowed range. Am I wrong with this?

    Can anyone help me?

    Re: Can't connect from DB2 V7.2 to DB2 7.1 on Mainframe

It was my own fault. I had become lazy using a DB2 Connect Gateway. There I didn't have to use the DCS directory.
Once I had cataloged the remote database as a DCS database the connect worked fine.
