    Question Unanswered: Add Sort Order 42 as default sort order id

    I attempted to add 42 as the default sort order id but every time I restart the sybase sql server 12.5 it always reverts back to sort order id 50 and the backup server fails to start. Is there a way to chnage the sort order id without having these problems? Please help.

    I also installed the sort order id 42 using the charset.exe application and I don't see it in the server config application under character set cp850. Is there a reason why I can't see it, did I install it incorrectly. I used the following command line in windows NT.

    C:\Sybase\ASE-12_5\bin>charset.exe -Usa -P -Sentreocver -v C:\sybase\charsets\cp850\nocase.srt cp850

    Hiya erod758,

    To configure ASE to use a new sort order as default sort order you need to sp_configure as below;

    sp_configure "default sortorder id", <sort_order_id>

    reconfigure with override

    You need to shutdown and restart the dataserver for this to take effect.

    Cheers
