    Unanswered: Table estimate

    Somebody knows how can I estimate the size of a table with a number of records?. For example, in SyBASE we have sp_estspace to estimate the space.

    Thanks a lot.

    You can try this SQL:
    SELECT (num_rows * avg_row_len) FROM dba_tables WHERE table_name = 'TABLE_NAME1';

    The most exact method:

    SQL> SELECT SUM(bytes) FROM dba_segments WHERE segment_name = 'AQ$_QUEUE_TABLES';

    SUM(BYTES)
    ----------
    1048576

    Change the segment_name = UPPER(your_table_name) and voila, the size is known.

    Hope that helps,
