Unanswered: Dual versions of DB2 on AIX5L??

    FOlks,

We have a client that is presently running DB2 Ver6 on AIX5L

They would like to upgrade to DB2 ver 7

They are unsure how their present 3rd party app will run on ver 7
so they would like to test it out by installing ver 7.1 alongside of ver 6

    Is this possible?

    ANy gotchas?

    Thanks!

Re: Dual versions of DB2 on AIX5L??

It is possible .... You can go ahead and install Version 7 as you would install it on a machine without version 6 .... This is possible only on Unix ... But remember, you cannot run two levels of the software(eg. V7 FP3 and V7 FP7) on the same machine ... But this will be possible with version 8 ...

The main think to keep in mind is the link to libdb2.a in /usr/lib(or /lib) ... You will have to remove the link using db2rmln command(it is a shell script in the db2 product installation directory ) .... Also, ensure that the application LIBPATH points to the right place ....
