Unanswered: How to connect to PROGRESS WIN NT DB from Linux App server

I am looking for a way to establish a connection from a linux based web/app server to a Progress DB running on Win NT. The solution has to be economical as well since I am working for a small non-profit org.

    Thanks!

    Hi Ed,

Baring in mind your wishes for being economical, you may be interested in having a look at http://www.openlinksw.com

I recommend the OpenLink Single Tier Driver for Progress 83a which is part of the OpenLink UDA suite.

you can download a fully functional 30 day evaluation license.

this is available for Linux and is a client only installation. it is pretty striaght forward to install and configure and will provide you with ODBC connectivity from your Linux box to your Progress database.

You may need to know about setting up TCP sockets in order to use the Single Tier driver, so just incase you don't already have a look at http://www.openlinksw.com/support/conprog.htm

Any problems just give us a shout.
