    From which userid are you running the db2 command ?

    If you are running it from a user different from the instance owner, you will have to set the environment variables for DB2 (as indicated in the error msg -1390) ...

    Include the following line in the .profile file of the user running the db2 command .

    . ~<instance-owner>/sqllib/db2profile

    You can have a look at the instance owner's .profile if you have any doubts on the syntax.

    I have assumed ksh here .... If you are using any other shell, use the equivalents for the shell ...

    HTH

    Cheers

    SQL10007N Message "-1390" could not be retrieved. Reason code: "2"

    any id about this ?

    I use db2 V7.1 on red hat 7.2, i'm connected with the db2 instance owner : db2inst1 and when I make a set | grep DB2INSTANCE it returns :
    DB2INSTANCE=db2inst1

    If i'm connected with another user, i get the "standard" error with reason code "1", but what is the reason code 2 ???

    help may be very appreciate

    Setting the environment variable DB2INSTANCE resolved the problem in my case. My server and client is in AIX box.

    When I tried to run db2 I got the following message

    SQL10007N Message "-1390" could not be retrieved. Reason code: "1"

    I set the environment variable DB2INSTANCE as follows:

    DB2INSTANCE=db2inst1
    export DB2INSTANCE

    After this I was able to run the Db2 command successfully
