    Unanswered: Oracle 9i and temp tablespace

    Hello,

    In Oracle 8.0 I have been using temporary tablespace using a permanent tablespace.
    In 8i, Oracle has introduced temporary tablespace.

    In 9i when I try to use it as temporary tablespace I get the following error:

    Is there any workaround, or I must use temporary tablespace in 9i ?

    Thanks,

    Tal.

    tempfile

    You must use the tempfile clause instead of the datafile clause:

    [SYSTEM@DB4.WORLD:NL-UTH-L057656] CREATE TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp_ts
    2 TEMPFILE 'c:\oracle\oradata\db4\temp01.tmp' SIZE 10m;

    Tablespace created.

    Good luck!

    This means that there is no way that I can use permanent tbs as temporary one ?
