    Unanswered: error when connecting to db in perl

    Trying to conect to Sybase (version 12.0.0.6) through perl

    This is perl line to connect to Sybase:

    $dbproc = &SybaseLogon( $server, $database, $username, $password );

    I get the following error:

    DB-Library: Server name not found in interface file.

    Are you familiar with this error? What could be causing it.

    Thanks a lot!!!!

    Obviously the server name you are specifying is not in your interfaces file!
    Thanks,

    Matt

    What environment are you on? In unix, installing the Sybase-CT libraries should place an 'interfaces' file in your install directory (typically /opt/sybase*). In Windows, you need to look for SQL.ini.
    Thanks,

    Matt

    Unix:
    If you have installed the Sybase software in /opt/sybase, the interfaces file will be /opt/sybase/interfaces.

    Windows:
    If you have installed the Sybase software in c:\sybase, the interfaces file will be c:\sybase\ini\sql.ini

    The interfaces file defines the server names, the connection library to be used by open client, the ip address of the host (or host name) and the port number the Sybase software is listening to.
