Unanswered: Obtaining a name from an address book...

Is there a way to have a button on an Access 2000 form pop-up the Outlook Global Address Book (or a similar interface)?

I would like to have it so that the when the use clicks the button, they can select the user from the GAB and that name will appear in the appropriate field and a department and unit will populate from this information as well.

I have had some luck with doing this based on the contact list, but I have no clue how to call the GAB.

    TIA...

GAB is very interesting name.... it is actually called GAL (global address list).

do you want to access Outlook contacts or GAL?

contacts are super easy (use outlook object model), GAL is more difficult (you need to use CDO).

let me know what you need, i can give you some samples....

Unsure about Outlook at we use a Novell Email system (Groupwise) but check your ActiveX add-ins as I have a database that steals names from the Novell Address Book.

The name on mine is "Groupwise Address book control".

If you have an add-in the coding is easy.

    Hope helped.
