    Question Unanswered: buffers

there are an example in the book that say how to calculate the buffers in file onconfig.std.

    2 kilobytes in page size.
    100 mb in phisical memory

the example say I can set the buffers between 10000 and 12500, which allocates between 20 and 25 megabytes of memory.

    how to calculate this value?

how to calculate the value of locks in the file onconfig.std.

    Thank you.

Believe me, there is no fixed rule that works for all databases.
The best way is trial and error.

Check with onstat -p for the %read cache and %write cache.
The read cach should be at least 95% and the write cache should be at least 85 %.

For the locks you should check the amount of lockwaits in onstat -p
