First draw the line on the report the way you want it to show up. Then do something like this:

    Me.YourLine.Visible = (quarters = 4)

    Hi,

I tried that. But instead of drawing a line after the matching record it added lines for each record in the report when the criteria met.
What I want is to display a line after the 4th quarters in the report.
    ex:
    3Q 1999
    4Q 1999 <-- underline here
    1Q 2000
    2Q 2000
    3Q 2000
    4Q 2000 <-- underline here
    1Q 2001

    Thanks!!

How about grouping the report on the year, and place your line in the group footer?

There should be more than one way to skin this cat

    Excellent suggestion Marion.

I also think I remember seeing code for alternating row colors on a report. The concept would help here if anyone knows where to find it.

It was a great idea. Except once I grouped the field(ex. 1Q 2000) it pulled all the quarters together then the year.
This is how it is displaying:
    1Q 2000
    1Q 2001
    1Q 2002 Line displayed here
    2Q 2000
    2Q 2001
    2Q 2002 Line here
    3Q 2000
    3Q 2001
    3Q 2002 Line
    ...

    What I need is
    1Q 2000
    2Q 2000
    3Q 2000
    4Q 2000 Line here
    1Q 2001
    2Q 2001
    3Q 2001
    4Q 2001 Line here
    ...

    I welcome any ideas.
    Thanks!!

In sorting and grouping, create a sort by:
    [year] & [quarter]
and move it above the the row that contains the year footer.

    Any good?

I'm not sure I understand. Are you suggesting to combine the two fields?

In sorting and grouping, I selected the field "Quarter" that I want to sort or group, the Quarter field is actually quarter and year combined(1Q 2000), unfortunately. I tried to sort by the year and then by the quarter. In the field selections, I selected Quarter twice. On the GROUP ON, I selected EACH VALUE and the 2nd field"Quarter" I selected PREFIX CHARACTER on the GROUP ON, but it gave me an error that ORDER BY conflicts with GROUP BY. Can I get a field sorted twice? One for the 1st part and one for 2nd part in the sorting and grouping.

The report is displaying the data in the right order
    (2Q 2000
    3Q 2000
    4Q 2000
    ..)
just that I need a line after each 4th quarter. But not drawing lines for all the rows once it finds the 4th quarter.

I believe I will need to write some code to draw this line when the condition is true. Unless there is another way.

    Thanks much!!
