    Unanswered: Perl - Sybase

    Hello ,

Does anyone have some basic Perl scripts which use dblib to connect to Sybase.

bottom-line is I am a Sybase DBA and really really want to learn and want to be a master in Perl scripting.

Please help me. Suggest good sites, send me scripts if you have.

I have Sybase 12.5 installed on My NT box, plus I have Perl installed.

    send me scripts at mail_info@rediffmail.com

    Thank you very much.

    Ram.

    Hiya,

    A good start is http://www.mbay.net/~mpeppler/Sybperl/sybperl.html.

    Cheers

    Re: Perl - Sybase

Sybperl for Win32 is available from activestate.
You should be able to use ppm for the installation. (I can't help you with that, since I rarely use perl on win and don't use ppm)

You could consider an alternative to Sybperl.
    Have a look at DBI (http://search.cpan.org/search?query=DBI) and DBD:ybase (http://search.cpan.org/search?query=DBD:ybase)

I think the DBI/DBD solution is more flexible and generic and it is well documented.

DBI and DBD:ybase is available at from activestate too.

    Hi

    There's a Perl/PHP How-to at www.iodbc.org with a generic script for a sample test connection

    Re: Perl - Sybase

As someone else mentioned, I'd start at my home page (http://www.mbay.net/~mpeppler).
If you are starting out with perl I suggest that you go out and purchase a couple of good books (Learning Perl, Randal Schwartz, O'Reilly is highly recommended).
