    Unanswered: sorting a table...

i am breaking into a sealed application using access. the app is a price list with 25k records all the usual fields like PartNo, Price, Delivery etc. the app requires that the table is sorted in PartNo order.

i link to one of the tables and append a few dozen records via a query.

how can i get this linked table back into part-number order via code?

i cannot attack the design of the table or i will destroy the sealed app.

The only thing that I can think of, which you will not like and there may be another way, would be to restructure the table in the access end and then send the newly restructured table back to the sealed app. basicaly coppy it all to access make the changes you need resort truncate the original table and resend it back to the app

This will be a huge resource hog in the terms of time and mem.
but off the top of my head with your limitations that all I can think of

thanks jim. i just wanted a reality check that there wasn't some obvious simple solution.

i'm going to try a maketable(sorted) to tblTemp, delete all the records in tblLinked, and pump tblTemp back in to tblLinked again with an append.

    might take a while...
