    Unanswered: sybase-db2

    Hi Friends,

I am a Sybase DBA my current project is getting over in next week.

Is it a good idea to move to DB2 since more database shops are converting their DB's to either sqlserver,db2 or oracle. How is the job market for DB2 dba's?

what UDB stands for ( I only know Universal database)? what is the diff between mainframe db2 and unix / windows db2 as per as the db2 is convern?

any good db2 sites for info and FAQ?

much thanks in advance for your reply.

    Ram.

It is no harm picking up a new database ... It shouldn't be too hard for a DBA ...

For some useful links for DB2 check the thread "Useful DB2 Stuff " in the forum ... Those sites in turn have many useful links ... You can start with a self-study course for Experienced Database Administrators

    http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/db2/ct28crs/

    Have fun :-)
