Post Unanswered: Import Flat File into DB2/390

    Hello,
I have some fixed width flat files, generated from UNIX, which I need to load into DB2. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to do this? Also, does it matter whether the INTEGER data values are required to have packed characters for SPACES - i.e., value = 123 -vs- 0000000123? For that matter, any other datatype?

    regards.

If you have DDF set up on the server and have a DB2 Connect, IMPORT is a good option ...

Is it one time or is it going to be a routine job .. If it is going to be routine, then you might need to consider the licensing cost of DB2 Connect ...

    Cheers
