    Unanswered: SQL7 Server Shutdown

Was wondering if anyone has experienced this issue:
Our SQL7 box is replication with a UNIX database. Something happened with the index on the UNIX side and the SQL7 Server stopped working. When we went to the console, the screen was at a RESTART prompt, as if someone had sent a shutdown command to the server. has anyone seen it where an SQL process can cause an error and make the server shut down?

I am not sure where to look. I am not an SQL person, I am trying to see if it was a process that caused it or if someone ran a shell command such as xp_cmdshell 'shutdown'. would you know if the use of the xp_cmdshell command would be logged anywhere with the default settings?
