    Question Unanswered: Getting sqlcode -998, sqlstate 58005 in UDB

    All DB2 experts,

    We have a developer who ran his cobol program in udb and got the following error,

    SQL ERROR

    KEYS FOLLOW
    FOCUS Underwriting ENTERPRISE BSNS_TRNSCTN_TYP U011
    2003-01-15-00.00.00.000000
    END OF KEYS

    SQLCODE =-0000000998
    SQLSTATE=58005
    SQLERRML=0001
    SQLERRMC=9
    SQLERRP =SQL07024
    SQLWARN =
    SQLERRD =000000000 000000009 000000000 000000000 000000000 000000000

    He said the program was purely calling a package which does select on a table. The following is the SQL statement in that package,

    EXEC SQL
    SELECT TRGT_VALUE
    INTO :TRGT-VALUE
    FROM RGNRL_DATA_CNVRSN
    WHERE SRCE_SYSTM_CD = RCE-SYSTM-CD AND
    TRGT_SYSTM_CD = :TRGT-SYSTM-CD AND
    TRGT_FLD_DSC = :TRGT-FLD-DSC AND
    SRCE_VALUE = RCE-VALUE AND
    :EFCTV-RUN-TS BETWEEN
    EFCTV_FROM_RUN_TS AND EFCTV_TO_RUN_TS
    END-EXEC

    He said the program was working before and without any change at all the program stopped working with this error. Any idea?

    I have already looked at the DB2 message manaul and it seems I have only the sqlcode and sqlstate but not any of the reason codes or sub-codes. I changed the db2 diaglevel from 3 to 4 and discovered the message with sqlcode and sqlstate only without any reason code and subcode as well. Any idea I could get those info?

    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hey Andrew,

    From what I read on the Error Message using the SQLCode you provided, you´re having some problem on your distributed transaction. As I know nothing about the architecture that´s being used on your environment, I attached the File with the whole message so that you can reach a conclusion based on what you saw.
