Wink Unanswered: guru needed - I'm a doofus

I am an ASP virgin! But I read that I could use ASP.NET on my desktop (just for me not to serve others) without IIS as long as I have the .NET framework installed.

Well, I do and I am trying to right a small web page or HTA or something that will allow me to run a query against an SQL database and return the records in internet explorer in a table (or something!)

Can someone please post an example of how to do this? I am thinking its just a matter of embedding some vbs into an html, hta or asp file?

    Thanks ahead of time.

You'll need to have IIS or PWS installed or you won't be able to use asp...The server (IIS, PWS) actually parses the asp code.

You still need a web server of some description. IIS = web server.

The 'web matrix' app comes with a small personal web server which you could use?

    Web matrix + .NET Framework

I'm assuming you already have the SQL part you talked about... if not check out MSDE while your download Web Matrix.
