Question Unanswered: Performance Issues with ASE12.5 and reorg

After performing a reorg on two key tables in our database (Adaptive Server Enterprise/12.5/SWR 9788 ESD /P/Sun_svr4/OS .8/rel125/1687/ 32bit/FBO/Sun Sep 23 04:15:32 2001) we experienced a dramatic performance decrease. Our 'Checks returning IO' increased from an average of 3.6% to 42.7%, 'APFs Issued' went from an less than 10 to over 1000, we started seeing APF's Denied due to APF I/O Overloads and APF Waits for I/O increased by 80%. This went on for about 36 hours before the stats returned to normal. My question is...is this normal behavior? Typically we do a drop/create index, update stats and sp_recompile. Since these tables are datapages locking we decided to try something new.

I've seen similar behavior once or twice.

Have you tried asking on the SYBASE-L mailing list? Eric Miner hangs out there, and you might get a better answer...

You already check the index I think the reorg put the index Non-clustered instead of clustered.
