Unanswered: Reading active logs in DB2 UDB

What options does one have to be able to capture information from the DB2 logs? We want to try and use the logs to capture changes as they occur without using database triggers. Are there products on the market for such a task? (this is for DB2 UDB v7 on Unix)
Thanks for any guidance. Charlie Crissman

    Hey Charlie,

If I understood correctly what you want. DB2 itself doesnīt allow you to do that. But thereīs a tool called DB2 RECOVERY EXPERT, that might help you. Iīve never used it, but still, itīs worth a shot.

Hereīs the link for itīs description:

Take a look at the DB2 Log Analysis Tool and DB2 Object Recovery also. Thereīs a link to them at that URL above.

I am not sure as to wether you want to analzye logs or just changed data!! if the issue is changed data then you can also use replication process, but it involves bit of work. When you configure replication it creates some control tables and you can query them to find all the changes which have taken place. Refer to the replication guide for more info.
