    Unanswered: Update query basics

    Hi all,

I'm trying to update several fields in a table "accounts" with data from a query. I'm not strong on my code, can this be done with an update query? My attempts are failing. Sorry, I'm self taught and would be grateful for a little advice.

    Revised question

Okay, I was doing this correctly after all...

I designed an Update Query to update two fields with new numeric values and one field from False to True to show that data for those fields had arrived. When I previewed the query by looking at the Datasheet view it showed nothing, but running the query updated my table.

I would really like to preview before I permanently change a table. Any idea what Access is doing (or I'm doing wrong)?

When you preview an update query, MSA shows you the selected records and their current values. Running the query actually makes the changes - but you already discovered that.

That kindof occured to me, but the fields had been all blank to start so I wasn't sure. Thanks for the info! It sure helps.
