    Red face Unanswered: postgresql and oracle

    hi,
    Obvious i'm a newbie..but as our company merged with someone, the other party uses oracle,while we use postgresql..is it possible for these dbs to coexist? i mean oracle has to replicate its db on a master postgresql server.
    thanks in advance

    coexistance

    The question is what you want to do???

    oracle -> replication -> Postresql

    i'm not as familier with oracle than with postgres but I think if the datatypes are not that different you can replicate it to PG.

    But I think you will need a self programmed replication which do some conversion if neccessary

    coexistence

    Thanks, Postgresql is the master db...and oracle is the db used by our partners to be...ps now oracle has to keep replicating into postgresql , so we can glean info from the pgsql server.hope things are clear now...anyone know any tried and tested method for this?
