    Unanswered: Table with Space

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to create a table with a space in the table name.
    We were able to do it. but do we select from such a table.

    SQL used to create the table is
    CREATE TABLE "NEW EMP" AS SELECT * FROM EMP

    SELEC * FROM "NEW EMP"
    This SQL does not work

    Please advise.

    Thanks
    nn

    i could not reproduce your problem:

    Connected to:
    Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning option
    JServer Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production

    SQL> create table "BX TEST" (ch char);

    Table created.

    SQL> select * from "BX TEST";

    no rows selected

    SQL> drop table "BX TEST";

    Table dropped.

    SQL>
    can you give some more details? (version, error-messages, ...)
    ^/\x

    hi,
    Thanks berxh3g.
    When a table is created with double quotes, the table name is
    case sensitive.
    i was unaware of this and i was trying "new emp" instead of
    "NEW EMP".
    Thanks anyways.
