    Unanswered: please help me with this

    Somebody that has knowledge of ORACLE, could say if a similar function exists to the alter table, to make something similar to the following thing in DB2:

    alter table client drop columnn Clidirecc

    No function in DB2 allows you to drop columns or alter
    their size (except VARCHAR). If you need to drop a column from
    a table, you will need to drop the table and recreate it without
    the column. Make sure you save the data first (export works nicely).

    You can create a view over the base table ommitting the unwanted column ...

    Physically speaking, this is a dirty solution ... You performance will get affected ... But logically, this is a nice work-around ...
